Location

It’s highly advantageous to have a car to make the most of your stay on Westray, so you can either take your own, or arrive by some other means and hire a car once on Mainland, Orkney.

Ferry

Ferry services operate from Scrabster, Gills Bay and John O’Groats in Caithness, and from Aberdeen.  There are also ferries to and from the Shetland Islands using these ferry companies:

Flying

​

You can fly from Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow with Loganair.  Alternatively you can fly to these airports from the south of Britain and then hire a car, exploring Scotland on the way up to Caithness, before catching a ferry to Orkney.

 

Train

Another route is to travel by train to Inverness and then hire a car there.
